Happy New Year everyone! Once again I'm missing my blog and want to get back to updating it and posting cards. Maybe this time will be the charm. I decided to blog today because I've created a card that I love and wanted to share. My daughter just got a Vera Bradley backpack as a birthday present and I am in love with the pattern. I decided to replicate the colors onto a card to match the bag and I am quite happy with the results. Here is a picture of the backpack and the pattern is called "Safari Sunset".

I needed a birthday card for one of her friends who is getting the same backpack so here is the card I made to go with it.

It's amazing the results you get when you put Vera Bradley together with PTI, Sizzix and Spellbinders.

The color combo is so pretty!

Missing Blogging

Even though I haven't been blogging, I have been busy creating and I have been loving it! Most of my problem is not being able to take pictures of the cards I've been making. I bought a photo light tent to take better pictures but I'm still playing with it and learning about the best lighting and camera settings. Anyway, I just thought I'd pop in and play along today at Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge seeing as how I made this Tim Holtz inspired card. I saw a technique that I loved on the Michaels website where Tim covered this cool bird in tissue tape and I had to try it. I love how the card came out and when I saw the challenge was Wings and Things I thought I'd enter. The pic is not great, I took it with my iPhone but here it is.

It's not the best picture but you get the idea!

It's Good To Be Back!

Wow I have really missed making cards and blogging and it feels so good to be back! In my last post I showed pictures of my messy card room and I was frustrated because I couldn't get near my crafting table. Since that post, my 12 year old daugter took pity on me and also was probably tired of hearing me complain so she cleaned the room for me. What an angel! She gave me back something that I was missing so dearly. Since I've been back to crafting I am so happy and once again the ideas are overflowing and I can't get them out fast enough. I've made approximately 20 cards and a handful of tags since I started again and now I just need to photograph them so I can get them on my blog and start entering some challenges again.

I also miss being on the design teams that I used to work for and someday when life calms down a bit I hope to try that again!

One of the first cards that I made when I got back to crafting is a sweet card that uses the stamp set and matching dies by

Melissa Phillips is one of my favorite designers and it's no surprise that she designed this adorable stamp set.

Anything with hearts usually catches my eye and this set is loaded with them.

I am very happy with the way this card turned out especially with the color combinations.

I will not be entering this card into any challenges this week, I just wanted to get a post up and display one of the cards I have been working on. I will be scouting out the challenges in the next week and get back into them soon!

Suffering From Card Making Withdrawal!

My last post was on November 22nd, 2010. I was fortunate enough to have a card published in Papercrafts Magazine and I was so proud of my great cardmaking hobby! Unfortunately, life got crazy busy and making cards fell by the wayside and the rest is history. My blissful cardmaking room got messier and messier by the day and I got sadder and sadder watching it happen. I miss all of my sweet cardmaking buddies out there! I have randomly been viewing my favorite blogs and wishing it was me making those beautiful cards! I miss being a Shabby Girl in The Shabby Tea Room! I miss being a Polkadoodle Girl over at Polkadoodles and I was always grateful for the opportunities to design!

I wanted to thank Debbie in The Shabby Tea Room and Nikki over at Polkadoodles for their understanding when I had to step down from my design positions. Those were not decisions that I made lightly!

Lately I am suffering from cardmaking withdrawal and it is getting stronger by the day! I have kept up with all of the new products over at Papertrey Ink (my favorite online shop!) I'll need to win the lottery to buy all of the products that I have missed out on while I've been on hiatus! I love all of their designers and I follow their blogs as well! The itch to make cards again is back and I can't wait to get started!!

There is just one problem......

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

This room is just unworkable! I have been trying to tackle it little by little but is so overwhelming! If anyone of my followers reads this blog post could you please give me a tip on tackling this mess! It would be greatly appreciated!

I can't wait to get back to designing and look forward to entering all of the fun card challenges once again!

TSTR week 37 - Pick A Cause

Good morning and welcome to week 37 in The Shabby Tea Room!

This week our challenge has been set by Nicole and she wants us to make a card/project in honor of your favorite cause or charity. Shriner's Hospital for Children is a charity that is very near and dear to my heart! They offer Pediatric Specialty Care in the following areas:

Orthopaedics

Burn Care

Spinal Cord Injury

and

Cleft Lip and Palate

My daughter is a bilateral above the knee amputee and has been a Shriner's Kid since she was born. She is 16 years old now and they have been making her prosthetics to walk in whenever she needs them. She is an amazing young lady and greets every day with a smile. Recently she has been involved with another amazing organization called Achilles International and they have given her a handcrank bicycle to race in marathons! She has already participated in 2 marathons and a few shorter races and she is addicted! Her first marathon ever, she completed 26.2 miles for a full marathon and she came in 3rd place in her division! Like I said, she is an amazing young lady!

Over the years, Achilles has developed specialized programs for children and war veterans. Achilles Kids provides training, racing opportunities, and an in-school program for children with disabilities, while their Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans program brings running programs and marathon opportunities to disabled veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Shriners is a truly amazing organization funded completely through donations making their care 100% free to their pateints!!! That's right FREE CARE TO THEIR PATIENTS!!! One of the nicest things that you experience at a Shriner's Hospital is the incredible generosity and kind employees. Their staff is tripping over themselves to make the kids feel safe and comfortable!

My card this week is in honor of Shriner's Hospital for Children and I decided to honor them with another one of my adorable Waltzingmouse stamps that is all about Kindness. Shriner's is definitely all about KINDNESS!

I have had a lack of inspiration myself lately but this week I remembered what I love so much about making cards! Polka Doodles DT Call!

We are looking for creative talent to join us here at the Polka Doodles challenge blog.

So if you'd love to get your work seen and have fun please follow the instructions below:

Criteria for Team Members:

You must be able to enter at least 3 weekly blog challenges a month and have a blog.

It is part of your duties to leave comments on the challenge entries on a weekly basis.

You must be able to contribute fully to the team and be able to commit for at least 6 months. Please make sure you really consider this - many people jump in without really considering the commitment we are asking for and what is required.

An important part of your duties is to create samples for Polka Doodles products which will be seen on the website, shows and Create & Craft TV. The deadlines for these samples are very short and are a pre-requisite for the DT members. From time to time you may also be asked to make additional samples as and when required.

Payment: there is no payment for this work, but you will receive Polka Doodles products to enable you to make the samples and your projects and obviously these are free for you to keep and use.

Polka Doodles week 44 - Quick and Simple Christmas Card

Welcome to week 44 at Polka Doodles! This week the DT was challenged to make a simple Christmas card that could be mass produced easily. The challenge this week was set by Jenny.

My reindeer is from the winter section of The Sundae of Seasons CD and he is Oh So Cute, dontcha think!! I matted him onto some kraft paper and then backed him with some fun polka dotty Christmas paper. I added a fun bow at the top and finished it off with a cute red button. Make sure to check out what the rest of the DT has made to inspire you! If you haven't already checked out the Sundae of Seasons CD, I highly recommend it! It has the most adorable images on it for all seasons!

Polka Doodles - Week 41 Something Spooky!!

TSTR week 30 - Vintage Halloween

BOO! I'm so excited that Halloween is coming! It's one of my favorite holidays! There are so many cute decorations and depending on your spin on the holiday, it can be cute and fun or really scary. I prefer cute and fun since I have little kids and I was never a fan of scary! This week in The Shabby Tea Room, I had the pleasure of hosting the challenge and since we are getting so close to Halloween, I chose a vintage Halloween theme in Shabby Tea Room style! Polka Doodles - Week 39 - Fancy Folding

Welcome to week 39 over at the Polka Doodly challenge blog!

This week Dee has challenged us to create a card or project using fancy or interesting folding.

I found the neatest tutorial for turning an ordinary envelope into a small treat bag with some basic folding techniques and I'd like to share it with you today. You can find the template for the envelope/bag here.

Nikky's new CD, Sundae of Seasons is such a fabulous CD that it is hard to choose which images to use on my projects. This week however, I chose to go with a baby theme and decorate my envelope/bag with the adorable sleeping baby from the "Spring" section on the Sundae of Seasons CD. I am just in love how this sweet little bag came out! You really can't go wrong when you're using such adorable images! Just look at this adorable baby close up, you could just give her a squeeze, she is so yummy!

It's hard to believe that this adorable little sack started out as an envelope but here is a view of the back of the bag to show you the seams from the envelope.

I'm not sure if you can see the lines where the envelope comes together but I tried to capture them in the above picutre. Try one of these easy peasy envelope/bags yourself and you'll be smitten! I can't wait to see what fancy and interesting folding techniques all of you Polka Doodlers come up with this week!

Papertrey Ink September Blog Hop

YAY! It's time for another blog hop with PTI!

My favorite time of month. This month the blog hop is all about creating a project using one of your favorite learned skills. I have so many techniques and skills that I have learned since I entered this Oh So Fun world of cardmaking that it is hard to narrow it down.....so I didn't. LOL Well I did narrow it down to 2 fun card templates and 1 super cool technique.

Oh and by the way, the Halloween themed Papertrey products have taken over this blog post! I can't help it, I am in LOVE!

Lately I have been fascinated with making non-traditional cards and boxes.

I found some amazing tutorials on the Splitcoast Stampers website

and I'm going to share 2 of them with you today. As for the super cool technique, I got a tip about a white gel pen recently in the Papertrey News e-mail from Nichole and Jennifer about their favorite products.

For the 2nd one, I made two gable boxes, by Regina Andare.

I followed the template here at Splitcoast Stampers.

And finally for the 3rd technique thanks to Nichole Heady and Jennifer Ellefson for suggesting the Uni-Ball Signo white gel pen. I have used many many white gel pens and I have never gotten the results that I achieved with this pen. In a word it is AWESOME! It is bright and white on dark paper and there is no scratchy missed spots when you are writing like with other gel pens! I got mine at Scrapbook.com but you can get them in lots of places. It was such a popular item that when I went to order it, I found out it was back ordered. It finally came in the mail and it was worth the wait!

On this card I used the white pen to create the faux stitching around the border of the black card and around the border of the orange Mat Stack 4 die from PTI.

I love this pen and I will be reaching for it over and over again! I even bought 2 so I wouldn't run out anytime soon since they are hard to come by!

Polka Doodles Week 38 Challenge - Hidden Element

Welcome to the Polka Doodles week #38 Challenge! This week the challenge is to hide something within, perhaps inside a box or a card. I am in love with this template that I found on Splitcoast Stampers for a gable box and it can be made to any theme! Nikky's new CD Sundae of Seasons has just about all of the cute graphics you could find for all of the seasons! I chose to go with a winter theme and make a box that could easily hold or hide, a small package of hot chocolate! The box itself is made from one of the background papers from the new CD and the adorable mug and holly leaf are from the winter section!

Polka Doodles week 37 - Easel Card

Here is sweet little Polly Pumpkin! I wonder what spell she is looking up? I just love Halloween! Great bold colors and such cute cute graphics! Nikky Hall at Polka Doodles has done it again! She has created such cuteness that you must check out her new CD titled "Sundae of Seasons"! Her Halloween Doodles have the cutest witches, pumpkins and ghosts on it to play with, you'll be glad you checked it out! Actually all of the seasons on the CD are just brimming with wonderful graphics and background papers!

Our challenge this week at Polka Doodles is to create an easel card. I personally love making easel cards, they are so much fun and they really lend themselves to such cute embellishments!

Missing Mojo :-(

Seriously, am I the only one who loses their mojo now and then? Sometimes I don't even feel like going near my craft table and sometimes I can't get enough! So many supplies and so many ideas and not one iota of inspiration lately... I don't know what happens. Well late last night I was blog hopping as usual and I came across Kazan's sketch #61 over at 2s4y and I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I am actually very happy with the way this card came out. There are a few things that can generally make me happy and that is PTI products and the color scheme on this card. I just love the sweet blush and aqua mist combo together and a satin pink bow will usually put me over the top! I am also in love with the new mat stack die from PTI on my card, not to mention that cute butterfly! Ok enough rambling, here is the card, I sincerely hope there will be more to follow!

TSTR week 26 - Tag You're It

Welcome to another Shabby Tea Room Monday Morning! I have such a fun project to share with you today! Recently I was blog hopping along and I came across the cutest little gabled box template and video on the Splitcoast Stampers website. I just knew I had to make one! The first one I made was a cute Halloween themed box that I will definitely be making again in a few weeks for my son's classmates. It was sooo cute I had to make it again for my sweet Sunbonnet Sue image this week from Bugaboo Stamps!

Our theme this week in The Shabby Tea Room is "Tag You're It" and our lovely host is our very own fearless leader Debbie.

Bugaboo Stamps is our generous sponsor this week and has supplied the DT with the most adorable digis!

Bugaboo is owned by Jodie Mackrell and in her shop she has a variety of images from cutesy to sassy ladies.

I chose the adorable Sunbonnet Sue image with a basket of strawberries in honor of my Mom! She is a Sunbonnet Sue lover and she even made a quilt for my daughter once with several Sunbonnet Sue patches on it! I decided to make a card and a matching treat box with my adorable image. Here is the card:

I used my cute little tag die from Papertrey Ink to stamp Sweet on the card and the box in keeping with the Tag You're It theme. This little box was so easy to make, it only took one 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper, a scor board, some adhesive and some scissors (or paper trimmer) and a circular or oval punch for the handles. Easy Peasy! Try one, you'll be smitten too!

Polka Doodles Week 35 Challenge - Shaped Card

Welcome to another Polka Doodle Challenge! This week it is Ruth's turn to host the challenge and she has asked the Design Team to pick one from a choice of three of the brand new templates which were released in July. The templates that she asked us to use were Baking / Gardening Theme, Twittie-Twoo or Hugo Pandapaws. As you can see from my creation above, I chose the Baking/Gardening Theme and I have embellished this Oh So Cute Apron! I am just in love with the way it turned out and I think instead of a card, I might just pop this little cutie onto a recipe book for my daughter. I used background paper from the Candy Doodles CD and I am really happy with the way it came out! Nikky Hall has done it again with her super adorable designs and wait til you see what she has up her sleeves for Autumn and Winter!!!

So the challenge to all of you is to create a shaped card. We don't want to see squares, rectangles or circles but something unusual. If you are a little short of inspiration, have a look at the samples the Design Team has created for you!

Did I mention that I love this apron? hee hee hee!

TSTR week 25 - Old Meets New

Good morning lovely ladies in blogworld! It's Monday morning and that's a good thing in The Shabbylicious Tea Room! Oh how I LOVE our challenges! This week Nicole is serving up some old meets new! It's so much fun to use vintage finds on cards and projects! There is just something special about using something that is not new or store bought, something that has been around for years!

For my card this week I used the following old and new items:

The buttons along the bottom left of the card are very old. My parents visited my uncle recently in VA and went antique shopping. My mom knows how much I love buttons and when she came across these beauties she bought them for me. Apparently they were from one of the older horse stables and were used to close the feed sacks for the horses. I actually had to give them a mini bath when I got them home because they were still dirty from laying in the stables, gross but kinda cool! They do look like ordinary buttons but I know their history. :-)

For something new, I have two items to share. First, is the lovely Lacey Blueberry Seam Binding that we were supplied with from lovely Debbie's etsy shop and second, are the two flourishes sticking out above the mini envelope. Those flourishes are from the latest addition to my stamp collection from Papertrey Ink. They are die cuts that have been stamped and heat embossed to give them a shiny textured appearance

The rest of the card was made with Papertrey Ink cardstock and The Girl's Paperie polka dot paper. The small label on the envelope is a Papertrey Ink die and the two sentiments are Papertrey as well!

Seeing Vintage Stars

Today I have a project to share with you that I absolutely adore!

Since I am in love with all things vintage and shabby I thought it would be fun to join in on the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week which is dedicated to Tim Holtz and all things vintage. I also love the challenge over at The City Crafter Challenge Blog this week titled "I See Stars".

Since the glitter reminds me of a little bit of metal, I'm going to add this to the challenge in The Shabby Tea Room for some DT inspiration!

I had fun making this vintage bird ornament. First I die cut my large star from chipboard and covered it in some delicious Girl's Paperie floral print. Then I took some Papertrey Ink sweet blush cardstock and made it into a paper medallion. I then embellished the edges with some sparkly silver glitter. Next came my sweet little birdie center! The chipboard bird is from Tattered Angels and I sprayed him with some glimmer mist for an altered and glittery look and I popped him front and center!

I just love the music background on this little guy!

What a fun project to make and such a cute look! I could see putting this little cutie on a Vintage style Christmas tree!

Farewell To Isabella's Challenges

Unfortunately this will be the last weekly challenge for Isabella's Sketchbook.

I've enjoyed being on the design team for Isabella and working with some very talented ladies! Unfortunately due to personal reasons Isabella could not keep up with the weekly challenges but her store will remain open, so you will be able to continue purchasing her lovely digi images! Thank you to Isabella for her lovely images and thank you to our loyal followers week after week!

Ok now onto our last challenge.

The theme this week is "Handmade Flowers". For my card I wanted to make a "criss cross" card. I recently found an easy tutorial on how to make them and I am enamored by them. They are so much fun to make and they look great! I used Isabella's Lighthouse image and I also used some handmade crocheted flowers that my mom makes for me. Here is a picture of the insert of the card.

TSTR Week #24 - A Little Bit of Metal

Good morning everyone! Here we are at week #24 in The Shabby Tea Room and this week Melissa is our host and she has inspired us with this gorgeous photo:

And keeping with the theme, she has challenged us to use a little bit of metal in our projects!

I love using the pop-top's from soda cans on ribbon so I thought this would be the perfect card to use it on and I had the "precious" metal word strip in my stash for a while now just waiting for the

perfect opportunity to be used. I also handmade the rose on the bottom of my card using a simple tutorial that Debbie did for KL Stampin N Scrappin for spiral roses. You can check it out here.

Polkadoodles Vintage Challenge

Oh I am in love with the challenge that Fliss has set for us this week over at Polkadoodles! We are to make a vintage style card and as some of you know, that is my absolute favorite style to design! I decided to make a wedding card and I used the Love and Cherish CD for the background paper and the "Love and Marriage" strip up the side and also for the main heart focal point. Die Cut Dreams Tag Card

Just dropping in quickly this afternoon with a card for the Die Cut Dreams Challenge this week

For this weeks Challenge you are to use a "TAG" in or as your creation BUT NO stamping at all!

Well here it is, my "tag card". Love that Girl's Paperie DSP and my Kurio chipboard letters that I've had forever were glad to come out and play! PTI cardstock and grosgrain ribbon to finish! Presto, 1 card and no stamping! Have a great day everyone! Off to carpool line!

♥Girly Wonderland♥

Hi! I'm sitting at this sewing machine wondering how I made it onto this card surrounded by ribbons, lace and roses? It's like a girly girl wonderland!!!

I had so much fun making this card!! I haven't done the pile it on thing for a while and it was very therapeutic! I grabbed lace and butterflies and buttons and ribbon and went crazy!

I had the City Crafter Challenge Blog challenge in mind when I started this card. Their challenge (#18) this week is called Isn't She Lovely and they want us to put a stamp image, picture or clipart image of a girl or a lovely lady, on our project.

I am also entering the card in The Pink Elephant challenge (#80) which is to use ribbon and sparkles.

I'll also post my card in The Shabby Tea Room for inspiration from the DT.

Isabella's Challenge - Hide Something

Good morning and welcome to another weekly challenge for Isabella's Sketchbook! This week we have a really fun challenge for you! It is titled "Hide Something" and the challenge is to make a pocket or a flap, with something hidden behind it.

I used Isabella's gorgeous digi image "Evening Flower". I must say I am getting better at the coloring and shading with my watercolor markers. I used Letraset Promarkers and Watercolor markers to color these flowers and I am really happy with the way it turned out. I made a tag to tuck behind my main panel and when you pull up on the brown ribbon, this is what appears:

The Cat's Away and The Mice Will Play!

Well, that post title says it all! The kids are back to school today and I am playing in my card studio! It's so nice and quiet, I can actually hear myself think! Don't get me wrong, I am eager to pick them up and hear about their first day of school! My son started Kindergarten today and my middle daughter started middle school, how appropriate! My eldest daughter is a seasoned pro already, she started her Junior year of H.S. today!

WOW I am getting old!

So while the 3 cats are away, I will play!

Here is what I played with this morning:

I just can't resist this little "Pure Innocence" cutie by Heather Ellis! She looks good in whatever colors you put on or around her! I made this card this morning for 3 different challenges.

The first is for sketch #77 over at Card Patterns and it looks like this:

The second challenge is The Pink Elephant and their challenge (#80) is to use ribbon and sparkles and last but certainly not least is the City Crafter Challenge Blog. Their challenge (#18) this week is called Isn't She Lovely and they want us to put a stamp image, picture or clipart image of a girl or a lovely lady, on our project.

I decorated my sketch with ribbon and sparkly rhinestones and put my little cutie patootie girl out for show!

My yellow DSP and buttons are from PTI and my lil' cutie is a digital stamp by Heather Ellis that I colored with my Letraset ProMarkers and cut out.

Pure Innocence

I have found some new digi images that I am in love with! This little girl and others like her are part of a collection called Pure Innocence. The designer's name who created her is the talented Heather Ellis. She sells her images on her website, on etsy and at the MFT's website. I am a little behind the times as many of you have already discovered this little cutie and have been using her for awhile but I'm glad I have finally found her too! I have purchased a few more images of this pretty little girl in different poses and I can't wait to start coloring and cutting all of them! My card uses PTI cardstock and sentiment, DSP by The Girl's Paperie and flowers by Prima. I used my Letraset markers to color her and I am very happy with the way she turned out! She is just perfect for the challenge this week at The City Crafter Challenge Blog - week 17 ~ I left my HEART in San Francisco...

The challenge is to create a card/layout/project that has a HEART (or hearts) in it and here is the scrumptious inspiration photo:

Wow, so much yummy pink, I'm gonna PLOTZ {yiddish phrase meaning : To burst, to explode, "I can't laugh anymore or I'll "plotz."

Ok that's the new word for the day... plotz!

TSTR Week #23 - The Delicate Cottage Rose

Welcome to The Shabby Tea Room's week #23 challenge! My name is Lisa and I'll be your hostess so sit down, grab a cup of tea and feast your eyes on this lovely photograph!

This week's challenge is titled "The Delicate Cottage Rose" and is inspired by this lovely photograph decorated in true rose themed Laura Ashley style! I came across this photo at Country Living.com and I fell in love! The challenge this week is to use roses in your project and I did just that. The dress image on my card is from Squigglefly who is our sponsor this week in The Tea Room. I printed out the darling little prom dress onto a rose patterned paper and cut it out. I added some Prima flowers to Debbie's vintage seam binding and printed the sentiment out on my computer.

Polkadoodles - Print Onto Vellum or Acetate

Welcome to week #32 at Polkadoodles! This week our host is Stacey and her challenge this week is to print onto vellum or acetate for your project. I used the Sweet "Candy Doodles CD" and I printed the adorable Polly Polkadoodle out onto vellum paper and made her the main attraction of my easel card! I also embellished the front of the card with two beautiful flowers from the All Around and Everywhere CD.
I recently learned how to make these easel cards and I am in love! I found an easy video tutorial on You Tube of how to make an easel card, you can find it in one of my earlier posts here.

My First Easel Card For Isabella's "Scrap" Challenge

Welcome to our weekly challenge at Isabella's Sketchbook!

This week our challenge is to use scraps from your stash or use items on hand but try to use nothing new!

I used some scraps of paper from my Dotty paper from PTI and some old stickers that I've had for years from Jolee's Stickers called Rose Vellum. I'm glad these beautiful stickers finally made it out of my stash and onto a card! My main butterfly image is from Isabella's digi boutique and it is called Butterfly 1.

For my card I decided to try to make an easel card. I've never attempted one before but I found a very easy tutorial on You Tube with some basic instructions on how to assemble it. I've included the video here for any of you who are interested.

The amazing ladies on Isabella's design team are VERY skilled at making easel cards and it is from them that I first learned about these unique cards. I've been admiring them for months and when I came across this easy video tutorial, I just new I had to make one!

Card Patterns - Sketch 76 Happy Birthday

Good Morning everyone! Just a quick post today. I had to make a birthday card for a friend and when I came across sketch 76 at Card Patterns this week I thought it would be perfect!

This friend has always loved the color purple so I went to my Pocket of Posies stack by DCWV for my backround paper and the flowered birthday cake is an older SU image but still so lovely! I finished it off with a small crocheted flower from my etsy shop. Scalloped border and buttons are from my favorite PTI.

Crazy for Yo-Yo's!!

In my last post I blogged about a new designer I came across by the name of Heather Bailey. Her website and blog are so colorful and inspirational that you can't help but come away from it with some new ideas! She has a simple picture tutorial on her blog about how to make yo-yo's. Now, yo-yo's are certainly not new to the crafting world, but they are to me. My shabby bloggy friend Debbie sells some cute yo-yo's in her etsy shop and I've been admiring them since she sent me some in the mail. When I came across the tutorial on Heather's blog I knew I just had to give it a try and WOW are they simple and cute! I went yo-yo crazy and I can't stop making them! I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and bought the most colorful fabrics and off I went! I even got my mom and daughter making them! Here are some of the examples of the yo-yo's we've been making:

My daughter is very crafty and she decided to make 3 yo-yo's and stack them on each other and add a flower to the top. She then attached the beautiful stack to a headband.

Isn't this just GARDEN FRESH and LOVELY!!

As you can see we have been having lots of fun around my house making yo-yo's!

Oh if my grandmother were still alive she would be so proud! She used to make them according to my mom and she even made a quilt out of them. {sigh} Wish I had that quilt today!

I decided to put one of the yo-yo's on a card and see how it would look and I just love it! I backed it with a small Martha Stewart Doiley and it is just lovely!

I used PTI cardstock, DSP, ribbon and button. The leaf and sentiment stamp are from PTI's set "Delightful Dahlia".

I can't wait to order some of Heather's fabrics and make some yo-yo's with them!

I think when you lose your mojo and you go looking for it, often times you open your eyes to new things that you might not have seen before! Now, to some of you this will be old news, but to me,

WOW, I have found

INSPIRATION CENTRAL

and her name is

HEATHER BAILEY

OK so as I said, this may not be news to some of you but WOW, I think I am in love. Heather is a designer and she designs the most beautiful, colorful fabrics in the brightest colors and the most beautiful patterns! I have been browsing her website, blog and shop for the past few days and there is so much to see and do. She has free tutorials and so many great ideas for crafting. She does sewing, quilting, papercrafting and a host of other projects! If you haven't checked Heather out yet, I highly recommend doing so!

I am dying to purchase some of her gorgeous fabrics so that is next on my wish list but while I was browsing her store, I found these adorable word stamps by Autumn Leaves and some really

bright ink pads that I just had to have!

So this card uses the SMILE sentiment and the pink ink pad that I just bought.

Polkadoodles Sketch Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another Polkadoodles challenge! This week our challenge is being hosted by Jenny and she has offered up a sketch for us to follow. I really love following sketches because sometimes I just need a little guidance {smile}. Here is the great sketch we had to work with:

I decided to use the All Around and Everywhere CD for this card and I love how those beautiful flowers look layered on each other. I had to photograph this card outside because every picture I took indoors came out so muted so that explains the foliage around the card.

The Shabby Tea Room - House and Home

We have tons of Christmas in July cards lately, so how about a Valentine's Day in July? I got this cute Imaginesce moped stamp recently in Michaels and I just fell in love! I just love how the red really stands out against the kraft paper! Just for fun I added a funky textured strip along the middle of the card. Don't laugh but it's actually some sort of sticky strip used for laying carpet.... LOL

Here is a card that I recently made for a co-worker who had a little baby girl. I just love how sweet and delicate this card is. The "Little One" sentiment is a rub-on that I have had forever. Here is my second card for the Classy and Elegant card challenge over at the Moxie Fab World blog.

I really love how this card came out! Dry embossing gives everything such an elegant look and there are so many textures to choose from! Cardstock is Papertrey Ink, embossing plates are Cuttlebug, scallop punch is EK success and sentiment is from an old stamp set I have by Inque Boutique.

Isabella Sketchbook - "Chill Out" - Week #18

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Garden Mail - Take 3

OK, well then, apparently I can keep my eyes open for one more post! Here is the third and final card for the "Garden Mail" challenge over at City Crafter Challenge Blog.

I like this card because I stamped my leaf image from PTI several times onto white paper and shaded each leaf in with purple chalk for a unique background image and then filled in with the Garden Fresh sentiment.

I also love the cluster of purple roses hanging upside down onto the parcel tag. They look like they were hung out to dry and preserve. I tied them up with some yummy shabby vintage seam binding from one of my favorite etsy shops, Deb's Simple Treasures.

Ok I think I finally have this challenge out of my system............maybe...........

Well, whatever it is, my second card features the color palette from the photo and a Hero Arts flower stamp that has been sitting on my wall begging to be used for some time now. I stamped it onto a handmade parcel tag and embellished with some leaves and ribbon. Definitely "Garden Mail" material!

I think it is my favorite out of the 3 that I made.

It's week #15 at City Crafter Challenge Blog and I am in love with this week's challenge!

Leslie is the owner of A Creative Mint and she has some of the most BEAUTIFUL color coordinated photography on her blog! If you need some inspiration for gorgeous color combinations,

This week the challenge at CCCB is called Garden Mail and the inspirational photo from A Creative Mint looks like this:

I just love all of the purple and green in this photo against that white background with touches of kraft color thrown in. It all works so well together!

The photo is called "Inspired by the Garden" so this is the challenge.....

Create a project/card using any colour from the photo and your creation must include something to do with Mail .. e.g. stamp, text, envelope etc.,

I really am in love with the colors and theme of this challenge! I might have to make another project this week for the challenge..........hmmmmmmm, maybe a tag???

The Shabby Tea Room - Week #20

Another Christmas in July card coming your way! This week in The Shabby Tea Room we are being sponsored by Just Rite Stampers and the adorable snowman stamp on my card is part of their Groovy Snowman stamp set!

Nicole has set the challenge this week and it is a recipe for creativity!

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop - Tax Deduction!

HOORAY!! It's Blog Hop time again with Papertrey Ink!

For this month's Blog Hop, PTI is focusing on office supplies!

I chose to make a baby card using PTI's ledger paper and incorporate some staples and a few mini paperclips onto my card! I also thought it would be fun to go with a $$$ theme because of the ledger paper. The idea of the Mastercard commercial popped into my head and I went with it.

I usually don't like to see my handwriting on my creations but it just went so perfectly with the

ledger paper and office supply theme.

I used the Night Night Moon stamp set which is SOOO cute! I stamped the bottle, duckie and diaper onto the polka dot paper from the ledger series paper, cut them out, and then pop dotted them up off the page. Then I stamped the cute border down the side of the ledger paper to coordinate.

The funny thing is, this card was going to be my "rough draft" just to get my idea out of my head and onto paper but once I saw it, I loved it and decided not to re-do it.

I can't wait to see how everyone uses their office supplies on their cards, I know PTI has some great products to incorporate the "office" into!

Good morning! Quick post to show you a card I just made for the CARDS challenge blog. The theme is pinwheels for summer. I used some double sided DP from October Afternoon's Thrift Shop collection for the pinwheel and background paper. I really love the colors in this collection!

A Little Somethin' Somethin'

Good evening blog buddies! Tonight I have a card to share with you that I am entering into 2 challenges.

The first is the Card Patterns challenge #73 and the second is the Crazy 4 Challenges C4C46 to use buttons!

The Card Patterns sketch looks like this:

The buttons for the Crazy 4 Challenges was easy because I love to incorporate buttons on to a lot of my cards! I just love the look of buttons with twine tied through the middle!

My stamp is from Lawn Fawn's Sew Lovely stamp set, cardstock is kraft from PTI and the patterned paper is from The Girl's Paperie. The little rose is of course Prima and the sentiment is from an SU set that I just won recently at an SU card workshop!

CCCB #14 Sketch

Good morning! I haven't played along over at the City Crafter's Challenge Blog in a while but when I saw their sketch this morning I was inspired! I've had this DP from October Afternoon for a while just staring at me and today it jumped up and said PLEASE USE ME!

Well fortunately it went very nicely with this layout and the "Thanks A Bunch" stamp came in an SU set I just won at a workshop. The whole card came together very nicely! I topped it off with some PTI felt flowers, grosgrain ribbon, and buttons.

Polkadoodles - Stamp Away

It's Friday at Polkadoodles and that means another challenge!

This is week 28 and Lou is our fabulous hostess this week.

Her challenge is titled "Stamp Away!"

What does this mean then . . . ? To decorate your project this week, you can only use your stamps! That's right, you CAN'T use any Polka Doodles or designer papers to make your backgrounds, just your stamps. You can also use your favorite stamps for your main image and sentiments too. Lou was a little wicked and challenged the DT to only use the "Fairy Flutterfly" stamp sets . . hee, hee, hee! If you haven't seen these gorgeous stamps, pop over to the shop and check them out.

I just love those Fairy Flutterflys!! They are ALL FULL OF CUTE!!

Card Style Fun and Cute Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Good morning "Peeps". I've got a little "peep" to share with you today! I've created this project for the Card Style Fun and Cute Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. Moxie Fab is having this challenge in honor of Papercrafts new magazine "Card Style". I can't wait to get my hands on this issue! It's separated into different card styles. I've always LOVED soft and vintage but I have to say that I love to play around with ALL of the styles available! This challenge was to make a card that is "Fun and Cute". You have until August 2nd to play along!

When I received this little birdie stamp in the mail, I couldn't wait to put him on a card and when I saw this challenge I heard little birdie yell.... "I'm fun and cute"!! So here he is! Straight from Nikki at Polkadoodles!

Just Having Fun with Papertrey Ink

Sometimes it's just fun to kick back and make some fun cards with no particular challenge or design team theme in mind! I am always amazed at the talent on the Design Team over at Papertrey Ink and I visit them all daily!! As hard as I try the creativity does not seem to flow as easily as theirs does.

But........ I have to say, I sure have fun trying!!! This papercrafting hobby is such a sanity keeper in a crazy world and I don't remember what I did before it!! My ticket card above is based on a card that Betsy Veldman just made with the new stamp set to be released in a few days and the tag with fabric and felt is based on some gorgeous projects I've seen on Michelle Wooderson's and Dawn McVey's sites. I also just love to visit Melissa Phillips website daily too, she has such a way with vintage inspired cards and projects! I doubt that most of you haven't heard of Papertrey Ink but if by chance you haven't, get out your checkbook and head on over there now!! But I have to warn you, it's addicting!

Shabby Tea Room - Christmas In July

Well, here in Florida we are melting in the hot sun but in The Shabby Tea Room we are putting on our winter coats and celebrating Christmas in July! Our Holiday Hostess this week is Cathy and she has challenged us to make a holiday inspired card or project! I enjoyed making my tag last week so much, I decided to make another one! My first love when I discovered paper crafting was Sizzix and all their wonderful dies. I have had my gingerbread man die for a long time and he still serves me well! He is so cute in all of his red and white glory, just perfect for a large Christmas tag!

Polkadoodles Summer Theme - Week 27

It's Friday morning, so let me welcome you to another Polkadoodles challenge!

This week Enfys has picked a challenge with a SUMMER theme.

Embossed Rose

Here's another card with embossing to share with you in The Shabby Tea Room this week!

On this card I used wet and dry embossing. It's difficult to see the wet embossing on the rose but I stamped the rose in pink ink and embossed with clear powder over top. It's a beautiful image and Papertrey Ink has done it again! The pink panel behind the ledger paper is dry embossed with my favorite embossing folder, Swiss Dots! To top off the card of course a little bit of yummy seam binding from sweet Debbie's Etsy Shop, Simple Treasures.

The Shabby Tea Room - Week #17 "Let's Make An Impression"

This week at The Shabby Tea Room we want to "Make An Impression"

Who's up for a little embossing? Dry or wet, what's you're favorite?

Audrey is the hostess this week and she has challenged us to see what we can

come up with using embossing on our projects.

I have to say that I love the look of both types of embossing but of course the dry is a little easier to do. My favorite embossing tool would have to be my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I've decided to break from tradition this week and make a tag instead of a card. I guess I am smitten with tags this week, they are so versatile and come together so quickly! I decided to emboss my tag and the butterflies for a more dimensioal look. My patterned paper is from The Girl's Paperie, LOVE THAT PAPER!!!

Polkadoodles - Week 26

It's Friday and that means a new challenge over at the Polkadoodles blog.

This week our lovely hostess is Claire and the challenge that she has set is to add a decorative item such as a flower, an ornament, or a mobile. I decided to use a few flowers on my card along with the adorable clear stamp titled Babsie. She is one of the cute fairy flutterfly stamps over at the Polkadoodle shop! My patterned paper is by Girl's Paperie and I love that soft pink pattern! The crocheted flower is from my Etsy shop "Oh So Cute By Lisa" and the scrunchy seam binding is from a friend of mine's Etsy shop Deb's Simple Treasures! The finishing top flower is by Prima. Isabella's Blog Hop - Anything Goes

Shabby Tea Room Cards

Good morning everyone! I went a little crazy lately with a very similar theme! I love handmade flowers and the combination of Papertrey Ink's Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores! I also like the way the Kraft cardstock fits into the equation too! All of these cards have techniques that I learned from Dawn McVey. She is one of the VERY talented designers over at Papertrey Ink and if you haven't yet visited her blog, well then, I highly recomment it! You're in for a real treat! She has a very classic style and her work is amazing! She is big into handmade flowers, polka dots and bright color combinations.

All of these cards fit well into the theme this week over at the Shabby Tea Room. The color scheme is hot pink, lime green and turquoise. The 2 cards with the doily base for the flowers are a variation of a series of flowers that a very talented designer Christine Middlecamp has been doing on her blog. She calls it The Embellished Paper Doily. What an adorable project! Head on over to her blog to see all of the wonderful doilys that she created and the final project where she put them all into a shadowbox. Very pretty! Good morning and welcome to a new weekly challenge here in The Shabby Tea Room!

The challenge this week is hosted by our lovely hostess Debbie! We have a real colorful treat for you to play with today! The theme is "Popsicles and Pinwheels" and we have a photo inspired project with hot pink, lime green & turquoise. Take a look at these gorgeous pinwheels!

"Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge".

Like so many of you I LOVE Papertrey products and to prove it, half of my paycheck goes to them each week! OK maybe not half but wow, it would be easy to do!!! I do my own daily blog hops each day to see what each PTI design team member has created and the inspiration is.... well....... INSPIRING!! I don't know how they continue to come up with one great idea after another??

My favorite color combination from PTI is

RASPBERRY FIZZ and HAWAIIAN SHORES

I love how these strong colors compliment each other and they are my "go to" colors! I especially love how they look against a kraft color background!

The inspiration for this card is from Dawn McVey. I love her blog and her creations and her bright cheery smile! I love her new post about cork, I can't wait to get my hands on some of that!
